La víspera de Año Nuevo en Mito

El alcalde del Distrito de Mito, Sr. Luis Emiliano Enríquez Bergna, y miembros de la comunidad de Mito desfilan alrededor de la plaza de Mito en la víspera de Año Nuevo, 2018 la noche antes de la apertura oficial de la Huaconada de Mito. The Mayor of the District of Mito, Sr. Luis Emiliano Enriquez Bergna, and members of the community of Mito parade around the plaza of Mito on New Year’s Eve, 2018 on the night before the official opening of the Huaconada of Mito.

La Huaconada comienza oficialmente el 1 de enero en Mito, Perú. La danza ritual, reconocida por la UNESCO por su patrimonio cultural intrínseco, se realiza durante los primeros cuatro días del año.

Esta noche, en la víspera de Año Nuevo, los bailarines desfilan por la Plaza acompañados por su orquesta con sus ropas normales, no sus trajes tradicionales. Además, se les une el alcalde del distrito de Mito, Sr. Luis Emiliano Enriquez Bergna, quien más allá de esta noche no tiene permitido vestirse y bailar como huacon.

The Huaconada officially gets going on January 1 in Mito, Peru. The ritual dance, recognized by UNESCO for its intrinsic cultural heritage, is performed during the first four days of the year. Tonight, on New Year’s Eve, the dancers’ parade, accompanied by their orchestra, around the Plaza wearing their regular clothes, not their traditional costumes. Furthermore, they are joined by the Mayor of the District of Mito, Mr. Luis Emiliano Enriquez Bergna who, beyond this evening, is not permitted to dress and dance as a Huacon.
