Three things happened with the moon tonight in the northern hemisphere. First, a total lunar eclipse gave the lunar surface its blood red colour. Second, with the moon being a little closer than normal to Earth, it looked bigger in the sky-a super moon. Third, wolves might howl with hunger for a night time snack during this first full moon of the new year’s winter. Put that all together to make this a night to remember as the Super Blood Wolf Moon over Calgary.
As seen over Westhills Shopping Centre, Calgary on a chilly (minus 7ºC) night, January 20, 2019.
