Red Deer Chiefs hold off Vancouver NW Giants at MacsTournament

Day 3 at the Mac’s AAA Midget Tournament

The Red Deer Optimist Chiefs looked to be in an unsalable position going up 3-0 after 40 minutes of play at Max Bell Arena. But the Vancouver team, probably reminded of the plague of goals that the Belarus National U17 team hit them with on Day 1, was not capitulating. Nine minutes into the final period they got one back, then two back less than a minute later. The Giants rattled the Red Deer cage with some swift attacks but with a minute to go the Alberta team sealed things up, final score 4-2.

Mac’s Midget Male Division (Pool 2)

There are five male Bantam AAA teams competing in Pool 2 in the 40^th year of the Mac’s Midget AAA Hockey Tournament: Calgary Flames; Belarus National U17; Red Deer Optimist Chiefs; Saskatoon Contacts; and Vancouver NW Giants.
