The COVID-19 pandemic cut out the Alberta Female Hockey League playoffs from the 2019-20 season and has now carved off the beginning of the 2020-21 season.

New, targeted public health measures came into force in Alberta on November 13 including a ban on indoor team sports until November 27, 2020. Four Calgary Fire U18 AA games scheduled over the next two weekends will not happen (at least for now). The prospect of more postponed or cancelled games cannot be discounted, which will be viewed with disappointment by players, coaches, and families. But with a rise in the daily number of cases of the virus being reported, including within our schools and hockey teams, this is a wise and necessary approach to curtail the spread of infection.

Without any Calgary Fire games to report, I will add photos to my Hockey Life gallery. Please take a look and let me know if you recognize (or have stories to tell about) the featured players, events, or venues.

Keep well.
