The Reds road to gold, game 3: St. Albert Sharks

Calgary Fire Red’s third game in the 2019 Alberta Hockey Provincial Championships (Midget Female Elite) was played against St. Albert Sharks at the Coca-Cola Centre, Grande Prairie on March 29.

It was their second game of the day, having faced off against Calgary Fire White in the morning. This one was more sparse in goals; just a single one scored in the second period after 14 minutes. Calgary Fire Red winger, Skye Mathew got a pass from her centre, Isobel Pettem-Shand and shot from in front of the net over Sharks goalie, Laney Pasemko’s glove. At the other end, Fire Red goalie, Rebecca Boswell held tight for a shut-out with 34 saves.

Final score: Calgary Fire Red 1-0 St. Albert Sharks

Calgary Fire Red went on to win gold in the Alberta Provincial Champions (Midget Female Elite). The team won all five of their playoff games.
