Fire Chiefs
Fire White picked up the points in Penhold today in their Alberta Female Hockey League (Bantam Elite) game against Red Deer Sutter Fund Chiefs. Gracie Gilkyson scored the lone goal for Fire White in the first period. it went to 2-0 after 40 minutes The Fire survived a five on three penalty, then went up one more on a short-handed play, scored by Mia Bierd.
Three from Fire in the final period
The Fire took a three-goal lead on the first shift of the final period when Sarah Gaiser got in close and hit the puck over the goalie’s pads. Gaiser scored another one, three minutes later, when she hit a seeing-eye shot through traffic, probably with some deflection. Jordyn Hutt put the game at Penhold Regional Multiplex out of doubt when she pounced on the puck after Hailey Wiltshire’s shot was deflected from the goalie’s stick.
Final score: Red Deer 0-5 Calgary Fire White
Song of the Match
Before the song comes a distraction since the game tunes were not so riveting today. So, here’s the Sign of the Match, it could be the sign of the season. You have to check the photos and tell me how you decide when this action becomes excessive and who judges that?
It was Fire White’s 21st win of the season: Sweet Dreams Are Made of This. There you have it, the fab song from The Eurythmics, sung by that famous Scottish hockey player, Annie Lennox.
Who am I to disagree?
Up next
A quick turnaround and Calgary Fire White travel south down the QEII highway on Sunday, Jan 28 for a game against Lethbridge Cyclones at Henderson Ice Centre (12:00). this is the only team to have beaten Fire White in regular time this season.. should be a good one in Alberta’s windy city.
