Five from Fire in 40 minutes

In a fast-paced opening 20 minutes at Ernie Starr Arena, Fire White took a commanding lead, putting in three goals scored by Mia Bierd, Ella Kitchen, and Sarah Gaiser.

The Calgary Bantam Elite team continued to dominate in the second period, closing down any Chiefs attacks with some controlled and confident defense. Fire White extended their lead by two more goals scored by Hannah Suto and Sarah Gaiser, her second of the game.

Chiefs comeback with two

The Chiefs got their power play going and scored with the man advantage in the opening minute of the final period then scored an even-strength goal five minutes later. That was the end of their comeback attempt though as Fire White tightened up again in defense.

Final score: Calgary Fire White 5-2 Red Deer Sutter Fund Chiefs.

Up next: Fire White travel up to Red Deer to face off against the Chiefs again on Friday, Nov 10.

Song of the match: The fire theme got going today with Paper in Fire by John Mellencamp. Nice one!
