Peru in the Parade 2023

Raíces del Peru (Roots of Peru) performed in the Prelude of the Calgary Stampede Parade in 2023, getting the audience going before the horses and showbands marched through.

Dancing culture from Peru

Raíces del Perú presented a rotation of dances from the Pacific coast (La Marinera Norteña), Andean mountains (the Huaylarsh, from the Mantaro Valley, and the very showy Diablada from Puno) and the Amazon rainforest (Dance of the Anaconda) that form part of Peru’s intangible cultural heritage (ICH). Also included was the Danza de los Arrieros or Los Tucumanos, a great fit for the Calgary Stampede as it features Gauchos (South American cowboys).
