With the final term of the year coming to a close, Connect Charter School students put on a summer celebration to please a full range of musical tastes. Under the musical direction of Mr. Bolen, the hundred-strong Grade 6 Beginning Band became the “Let’s Go” Band playing through that number then a rendition of the Main Theme from Star Wars that composer, John Williams would have enjoyed. The dance crew from Performing Visual Arts came out of the shadows in their Glow in the Dark costumes to light up the audience with their originally choreographed Our Adventure Through Darkness.

The Connect Band continued the dance theme as they played Shepherd’s Hey, a traditional Morris Dancing tune for England with Mr. Harder back with the band playing Tuba. Then there was fun with cymbals. First came big and loud. Then cymbals played through the audience. And finally teeny-weeny, castanet-like cymbals in their fun version of Concerto for Crash Cymbal.

The Grade 9 Band played a medley of Eagles songs including Hotel California, led with some fine 12 string guitar. Then it was back to some movie music with the Connect Band playing the James Bond Theme and a sung performance of the theme from Skyfall, before closing out with the up-tempo, Funkytown.
